Why we show "not measured" instead of zero
Zero is a result. Missing data is not. Our approach to honest dashboards.
Zero is a claim
A mention rate of 0% says that we asked AI systems about your brand and they never named you. If we have not asked, the honest value is not zero; it is unknown. Showing zero would turn an absence of data into a negative finding you might act on.
Two kinds of numbers
BrandPilot separates what it can verify from your own website, such as robots.txt, sitemap, headings, structured data and the readiness score derived from them, from what needs provider tests, such as mention rate, citation coverage and share of voice. The first group is measured today. The second is marked not measured until real tests exist.
What this looks like in the product
Provider-dependent tiles read "Not measured" and the provider status shows not configured. The readiness history chart only plots completed audits. Example charts on our public site carry a permanent label saying they are illustrative.
What it means for decisions
Use readiness to fix the foundation: access, structure and clarity. Do not treat it as a prediction of AI recommendations. When provider testing is enabled, you will see measured rates alongside the sample size behind them.
